The role of Project Coordinator III involves the planning, estimating, and scheduling of backflow and cross connection work projects and assisting in the determination and coordination of material, equipment, and manpower needs and availability for each project. Prioritizes and schedules planned and unplanned cross-connection inspections and backflow installation, inspection, testing, and repair projects to expedite operations and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. Responsible for coordinating with other departments as well as external contractors and customers to determine project timetables, equipment requirements and availability, and manpower utilization, as well as ensuring accuracy of permanent records.
Essential Job Functions
- Plans, estimates, and schedules maintenance work and activities using the department's Work and Asset Management System (EAM).
- Prioritizes, assigns, and schedules work projects involving cross-connection inspections and backflow installation, inspection, testing, and repair projects.
- Receives and responds to telephone inquiries and complaints with respect to the scheduling of projects and estimated completion dates.
- Provides customers with schedules of planned work and up dates on any changes in work schedules.
- Receives and reviews daily service requests from internal or external sources, prioritizes and coordinates work schedules to meet work request objectives, and project work completion dates.
- Assists in coordinating material and equipment needs and availability for individual work orders.
- Coordinates with personnel in the Utilities O&M Department to determine needed resources (labor, equipment, and material) to plan and schedule work.
- Analyzes feasibility, cost-effective solutions, scope, priority, and resource (labor, material, equipment) requirements for work.
- Maintains and monitors comprehensive records of work orders, scheduled completion dates, work progress and delays and adjusts dates to reflect status.
- Ensures that changes are made to utility systems are accurately measured and recorded in G.I.S.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic principles, standards, and practices of the assigned department.
- Ability to plan, schedule and evaluate the quality and quantity of work needed to accomplish work goals.
- Knowledge of appropriate County, State, and Federal safety practices, procedures, and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive communication style, both written and orally.
- Ability to investigate, research, and evaluate maintenance and construction issues to determine technically sound, feasible and cost-effective procedures.
- Ability to plan, organize and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions in accordance with established policy.
- Skill in effectively dealing with the public to resolve sensitive disputes or service requests.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other employees.
Minimum Requirements
PHYSICAL SKILLS:Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate degree and four (4) years' in maintenance planning, scheduling functions or related experience OR graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and six (6) years' experience.
In House Candidates: This position qualifies for DAP.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Must be able to obtain TREEO Cross Connection Control Program Manager Certification Series within one (1) year of hire.
