Job Description We are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to oversee multiple civil infrastructure projects across the Lower Mainland. These projects focus on municipal underground utility work, such as storm and sanitary sewer systems, water mains, duct banks, excavation, and roadworks. This is a long-term role that emphasizes technical expertise, leadership, and a strong cultural fit. Responsibilities
- Ensure all construction activities comply with safety standards and WorkSafe regulations.
- Promote a strong safety culture during bid reviews and pre-construction meetings.
- Direct and coordinate field personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget.
- Ensure Project Foreman/Lead Hand have a complete understanding of project scope and methodology.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors' work on site.
- Prepare work plans and schedule resources, materials, and equipment requirements.
- Schedule and plan ahead to remove schedule obstructions weeks in advance.
- Review status reports prepared by Project Manager and adjust schedules or plans as needed.
- Manage Project Foremen and key project staff, including scheduling and vacation approvals.
- Provide technical advice and resolve problems to support project staff.
- Identify, recruit, and recommend new field staff for hiring.
- Mentor project staff to support their development and career growth.
- Advise and recommend disciplinary actions to ensure adherence to company policies.
- Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to assess material and equipment needs.
- Maintain strong relationships with project owners, partners, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Allocate resources to achieve project safety, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
- 5-10+ years in civil construction, specifically in underground utilities.
- 5+ years in a supervisory role managing crews and field operations.
- Deep understanding of municipal utility installation including underground utilities, excavation, and roadworks.
- Ability to interpret drawings and develop execution plans.
- Experience in the Lower Mainland with familiarity in local vendors, permitting processes, and municipal regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid drivers license (company truck provided).
- Experience with HCSS HeavyJob is a plus.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and team-oriented.
- Comfortable working in a flat organizational structure with minimal hierarchy.
- Open to feedback and cross-functional teamwork.
