SCHEDULE : full-time, Mon. - Fri., 7:00am-3:30pm. COMPENSATION : a minimum of $50,065.600/year, DOQ (full range: $50,065.600 - 72,596.160/yr) We are pleased to offer competitive compensation & benefits, including, but not limited to: certification pay * incentive pay for education * longevity pay tuition assistance sick & vacation buy back medical, dental, & vision insurance covered at 100% for employee-only coverage * compensation available for certification or education over the minimum qualifications required for the employee's job POSITION SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of the Public Works Crew Leader or assigned supervisor, the incumbent operates motorized equipment associated with maintenance, repair, and construction of City streets, drainage, and water systems. Performs other tasks as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates heavy and light equipment, including, but not limited to: Gradall, paver, backhoe, rubber tire loader, rollers, street sweeper, tractors, sewer jetter or camera equipment, hydro-excavation equipment, mowing/edging equipment, chain saw, etc.. Operates heavy and light trucks and other vehicles in a safe manner. Follows verbal directions and hand signals when operating equipment. Performs all duties of Public Works Maintenance Worker I. Completes work orders and other necessary paperwork upon completion of assigned tasks and maintenance of equipment. Maintains the safe and efficient operation, care, and appearance of all assigned equipment. Assumes Crew Leader responsibilities temporarily when assigned. Adheres to personnel, safety, and department policies and procedures. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required. ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Adheres to an on-call schedule as assigned for emergency repairs at night or on weekends. Responds outside of normally scheduled work hours in response to special events, natural disasters, emergencies, or other critical incidents as determined by the City. Assists other areas as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains a high standard of customer service and a professional attitude with all internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of equipment and tools used in maintaining streets, drainage systems, and/or water systems.
Working knowledge of the operation, care, and maintenance of various heavy equipment, mowing equipment, and power tools.
Ability to manage and prioritize tasks.
Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
Ability to safely operate or use equipment, tools, and supplies for the assigned duties.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and treat co-workers, employees, vendors, and citizens with professionalism, courtesy, and respect.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and/or construction of streets, drainage, or water systems required. Municipal experience preferred.
Must possess one (1) of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) licenses listed below: Type II Wastewater
Class C Water Distribution
Must have valid Texas Driver s license prior to employment.
Must obtain a class B CDL Driver s License within six (6) months of start date.
Must pass a pre-employment screening, background check, employment eligibility verification and be able to be licensed by and maintain licensing with TCEQ.
