Job Description
This position participates in plan reviews, conducts permit application reviews, maintenance inspections, and general building inspections. The position is responsible for ensuring that design documents and physical construction meet all applicable codes and life safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct various inspections, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, rough carpentry, above ceiling inspections, storm water and many others as required by the scope of the work
- Communication with the construction project teams and maintenance managers as necessary to align reviews and inspections with project goals, when possible
- Communication and coordination with fellow inspectors, other university staff, faculty, and community officials as necessary to facilitate inspection activities
- Dedicate time to regular professional development, training, and professional certification pursuits to broaden and strengthen inspection knowledge base, learn new construction methods, applications, and code requirements related to construction and maintenance industry changes and development
- Permit application reviews, and any other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
- If not currently certified; within 6 months from hire date, the staff member must become ICC certified as a Permit Technician, or Accessibility Inspector, or Mechanical Inspector, or Electrical Inspector. Inspectors are encouraged to become combination trade certified

- Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWPPP)
- Plan Reviewer Experience
- Commercial Electrical Experience
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $21.71-$30.90 hourly.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
