To help us continue to grow our business, we're searching for a Design Drafter. The Drafter will develop shop drawings and parts detailing using Inventor software for production related to metal framed skylights and other building envelope products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop shop drawings and parts detailing using Autodesk Inventor for the KLA line of metal framed skylights and other building envelope products.
  • Prepare detailed bills of materials, fabrication drawings and details of aluminum structural components (specific product training will be provided).
  • Design and detailing projects using Inventor/AutoCAD and inhouse programs.
  • Provide clear fabrication drawings and Bill of Materials to manufacturing.
  • Coordinate designs with architectural and structural drawings.
  • Study specifications, determine optimal product for requirements and properly apply this knowledge to the design.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with internal departments.
  • Work within a team environment of management, sales, and manufacturing.
  • Provide fair, friendly, and consistent customer service.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • 3+ years using Inventor and AutoCAD software. Ability to read architectural and structural drawings.
  • 3+ years' experience as a detailer in the architectural products, structural steel, curtain wall, metal panel, glazed structures, ornamental steel or building envelopes industry.
  • Understanding of fabrication methods of architectural products.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Good 3D and math skills (Trigonometry)
  • Independent and self-guided attitude.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time well.
