The Job
San Bernardino County Fire Protection District has a unique position for an experienced Fire Project Manager* to help manage and coordinate maintenance and repair of facilities and building systems, construction projects, improvements, upgrades, and new construction of fire stations and other fire district facilities. Responsibilities include reviewing project concept proposals, cost estimates from contractors, architectural and engineering drawings and construction documents for completeness and accuracy, and ensuring maintenance and replacement of fire district facilities are on track. This position administers and manages construction contracts, including request for proposals, estimating expenses, determining/adhering to schedules, negotiating agreements and change orders, assuring compliances with buildings and inspections, and acting as technical advisor to ensure projects are completed safely, timely and within project documents.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment.
Physical: Frequent sitting, walking, standing, bending, and squatting. Requires fine manipulation in both hands. Occasionally lift and carry 10 to 50 pounds.
Travel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained. Mileage reimbursement may be available.

Minimum Requirements
Option 1:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or closely related field;
AND
Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience with responsibility for managing medium-large capital improvement projects, and which involved design, procurement and construction of infrastructure facilities/buildings/equipment.
Option 2:
Education: Thirty (30) semester units of coursework directly related to engineering, construction, and/or project management;
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience with responsibility for managing medium-large capital improvement projects, and which involved design, procurement and construction of infrastructure facilities/buildings/equipment.
Option 3:
Certification: EIT Certification
AND
Education: Bachelor's in Civil Engineering
AND
Experience: One (1) year of professional experience with responsibility for managing medium-large capital improvement projects, and which involved design, procurement and construction of infrastructure facilities/buildings/equipment.
Desired Qualifications
Possession of a Construction Management or Engineering degree, along with a strong understanding of the diverse environments and conditions unique to the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience working with fire districts that manage fire stations, facilities, and related services. Familiarity with the California Public Contract Code (PCC) and its application to fire district projects is also preferred.
