Base Rate:
$28.60
Performance Pay:
Available annually
New hire experience:
1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum
New hire education:
1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position
Class/Calendar:
C41, 12 months
Hours:
Full-time (40 hours per week)
FSLA:
Non-Exempt

OVERVIEW
To maintain electrical systems and their components in safe operating conditions; to modify or install electrical services; and to determine the most efficient installation of additional systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School education or equivalent
Valid Arizona driver's license
Minimum five years varies experience in electrical work or journeyman status; excellent attendance record
Knowledge of city, state and federal electric codes
Working knowledge of tools, materials and safe working practices of the electrical trade
Ability to interpret, to understand and to work from plans, specifications and blueprints
Ability to estimate the cost of jobs and to make materials list
Physical ability to perform duties of the trade and to lift and/or to move up to 100 pounds
Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and to establish and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
Ability to work overtime and to change schedules with minimal notice; willingness to work non-regular hours (weekends, night shift, swing shift, holidays)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Repair, install, service and maintain electrical systems including interior and exterior light and power circuits
Install and maintain the electrical parts of shop machinery
Check motors, transformers, generators, switch gear, heating and air conditioning power circuits
Requisition electrical supplies and materials
Perform commercial wiring within the district
Regular and on-time attendance required
Assist other electricians when necessary
Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
SUPERVISION
Electrician J Lead
Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work in Transportation. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.
