Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and aluminum.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Studies blueprints, sketches, or plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated for Exhibits
Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials
Erects framework for structures
Multiskilled in all assembly techniques and equipment throughout the department.
Ability to assist in other departments.
Ability to follow CAD drawings
Ability to handle all projects with little to no supervision
Will be expected to train/mentor carpenter apprentices
Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
Effectively works with a team of builders to construct assigned projects from start to completion
Accurately interprets and works from plans and fabrication drawings
Ability to successfully manage construction of multiple custom projects
Experience working with a range of materials, to include plywood, MDF, laminate and plexi.
Ability to use multiple types of equipment, to include a table saw, router, etc.
Regulate material usage to ensure cost effectiveness and efficiency on project
Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
Comply with all company policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED.
Been with the company 5+ years as a carpenter.
Ability to lead a team to complete projects with little to no supervision.
Ability to coordinate with other departments for the completion of a project.
Basic hand tool knowledge, table saw, chop saw and lamination.
Ability to follow CAD drawings.
Ability to work accurately and quickly under company deadlines.
Cooperative, courteous, flexible and good natured.
Conscientious, persistent, resourceful, productive and active.
Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships and deal with employees in an efficient and professional manner.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must have attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and commitment to meeting and exceeding deadlines and goals.
Valid drivers license.
