Description
Performs difficult skilled trades work supervising assigned staff and maintaining sidewalks and curbs, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Senior Crew Coordinator. Limited oversight is exercised over assigned staff.
Examples of Duties
- Removes curbs and sidewalks and prepares the area for repairs.
- Repairs curbs, sidewalks, and driveway aprons.
- Transports necessary materials for repair and placement of concrete.
- Operates equipment used in the removal and repair of curbs and sidewalks.
- Ensures concrete is finished upon completion.
- Trains, leads, and supervises crew.
- Maintains supply levels and orders supplies when needed.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience: Less than high school diploma or GED and considerable experience in leading crews and placing concrete, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of related industry, organization, and department policies, practices, and procedures; some knowledge of related industry organization, and departmental legal guides, recommendations, best practices, ordinances, and laws; thorough knowledge of vehicle maintenance reports; thorough knowledge of industry standard and department specific equipment; skill in using assigned equipment; ability to supervise and lead a crew; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions or decimals; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Physical Requirements: This work requires the regular exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or balancing, reaching with hands and arms, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling and repetitive motions, frequently requires standing and walking and occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to extreme heat (non-weather), exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration, occasionally requires exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and occasionally requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a very loud noise location (e.g. jack hammer work, garbage recycle plant).
