Business Development Manager

Join Us at Centricity Research!

Centricity Research is one of the largest clinical research networks in North America. We are a fully centralized Integrated Research Organization (IRO) specializing in conducting Phase I-IV clinical trials in over 35 therapeutic areas: inpatient and outpatient; pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device trials.

About the Role

The Business Development Manager is a key contributor responsible for identifying and securing new clinical trial opportunities across the pharmaceutical, biotech, and CRO sectors. This is a high-impact, outbound-facing role fully dedicated to lead generation and early pipeline development. As a "hunter," the individual in this position drives strategic growth through targeted prospecting, outreach, and relationship building with new industry partners. The primary objective is to expand Centricity’s study portfolio and site network by building a qualified, high-value pipeline of trial opportunities.

What You’ll Do

  • Proactively identify and engage prospective sponsors, CROs, and industry partners to secure new clinical trial awards.
  • Execute high-volume prospecting campaigns and qualify inbound and outbound leads, scheduling feasibility discussions, introductory meetings, or site presentations with internal leadership.
  • Build, manage, and grow a robust pipeline of qualified study opportunities across multiple therapeutic areas, aligned with Centricity’s strategic focus.
  • Research sponsor pipelines, clinical development programs, and market trends to inform tailored outreach strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of lead generation activities, account status, and opportunity progression in Salesforce.
  • Attend conferences and industry events to expand Centricity’s visibility and initiate new relationships.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with feasibility, operations, and site leaders to align on site capabilities, timelines, and enrollment feasibility for prospective trials.
  • Share actionable market insights and competitive intelligence to support business planning and portfolio expansion efforts.
  • Act as an internal advocate for sponsor feedback and needs, ensuring alignment across departments.
  • Monitor and understand Centricity’s performance by customer, participating in discussions regarding overall satisfaction, performance trends, and future opportunities.
  • Achieve or exceed pipeline development and new contract value targets through disciplined follow-up, relationship management, and effective positioning of Centricity’s capabilities.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You:

  • Have a high school diploma or GED (required) and 1–3 years of experience in business development, inside sales, or patient recruitment in the clinical research space.
  • Are skilled at outbound prospecting and have a track record of consistently meeting or beating your goals.
  • Bonus points if you have a degree in Life Sciences, Business, Marketing, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
  • Even better if you bring 3–5 years of business development experience within clinical research, biotech, or pharma, with an existing network of sponsor, CRO, or pharma contacts.
  • You’ve successfully expanded pipelines into new therapeutic areas and are confident navigating CRM systems like Salesforce or Devana.

Core Competencies

  • Strong “hunter” mindset — highly self-motivated, persistent, and focused on achieving measurable results.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior decision-makers.
  • Excellent lead generation and qualification skills, particularly in outbound outreach.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple leads and follow-ups concurrently.
  • Comfortable in a performance-driven environment with accountability for pipeline growth and new contract value.
  • Analytical thinker with a strategic mindset and keen attention to detail.
