Mechanical Project Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer with a strong background in 3D design and mechanical engineering to join our dynamic team. This role emphasizes brainstorming and conceptualizing solutions for connecting old conveyor systems with new ones, utilizing Configura software to draw conveyors in 3D. The focus is on experimental designs that require a deep understanding of how equipment feeds into other equipment and what additional components are needed for connections. The position involves creating simulation examples in CAD to test ideas before final detailing.

Responsibilities

  • Design material handling equipment such as conveyor belts and other machinery.
  • Develop layouts for site projects, including adding capacity, retrofitting areas for new equipment, and rearranging existing equipment.
  • Write RFPs and collaborate with vendors for site selection.
  • Engage in engineering design and oversee project execution.
  • Travel up to 25% for site visits to assess and oversee project progress.
Essential Skills
  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing/industrial design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and Solidworks.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, electrical, or manufacturing).
  • Strong project management skills with hands-on design experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to design and conceptualize material handling equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in automation and material handling systems.
  • Familiarity with upstream/downstream changes in systems engineering.
  • Experience in designing layouts and retrofits for line implementation or launches in various industries.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
