Visalia Construction Accountant

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Construction Accountant to take full ownership of our accounting function. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced, independent work environment. You will manage all aspects of the accounting cyclefrom accounts payable and receivable to certified payroll and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
HR including certified payroll and reporting in multi-states.
Prepare and submit certified payroll reports accurately and on time.
Maintain accurate records for multiple construction projects across the country.
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reports.
Work with staffing agencies such as Ready Labor and Aerotech to reconcile labor costs.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including prevailing wage requirements.
Oversee general ledger maintenance and reconcile accounts regularly.
Collaborate with leadership to provide financial insights for decision-making.
Implement and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Construction Accountant or similar role in the construction industry.
Certified payroll experience is required.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong understanding of GAAP and construction-specific accounting practices.
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills for working with internal teams and external vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with job costing and project-based accounting.
Familiarity with multi-state payroll and tax requirements.
