Essential Duties

  • Uphold CW's mission and values while demonstrating professionalism in all tasks.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming provisions and supplies, ensuring accuracy against shipping manifests and compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Safely load and unload food, equipment, and consumables from delivery vehicles or storage facilities to the vessel using appropriate lifting techniques and material handling equipment.
  • Organize and store provisions in designated onboard storage areas, maintaining proper inventory rotation (FIFO) and adhering to temperature and sanitation requirements.
  • Assist in inventory control activities, including stock counts, labeling, and documentation to support accurate recordkeeping and resupply
    planning.
  • Coordinate with ship officers, stewards, and galley personnel to ensure timely and accurate delivery of supplies to various departments.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment in accordance with safety protocols and operational guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of provisioning areas, including storerooms, freezers, and dry storage, to meet maritime hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Dispose of expired or damaged goods in compliance with environmental and safety standards, documenting discrepancies and reporting to supervisors.
  • Support emergency resupply operations during extended voyages or unexpected shortages, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness under pressure.
    Comply with all maritime safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe lifting practices, and hazard communication procedures.
  • Participate in safety drills, training sessions, and inspections to maintain readiness and compliance with port authority and international
    maritime standards.
  • Actively participate in all required training programs and demonstrate ongoing proficiency in company-mandated training throughout employment to ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and best practices.
  • Perform any additional duties and responsibilities, as needed.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is not required for this role.
  • Experience: Entry level position; experience is not required.
  • Additional Requirements: Ability to work cooperatively with provisioning teams, ship personnel, and supervisors to ensure smooth and timely operations. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions clearly and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. Ability to identify and address logistical or inventory issues proactively, escalating concerns when necessary.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skilled in the safe use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment for loading, unloading, and transporting supplies.
  • Basic understanding of maritime provisioning processes, including receiving, staging, and distributing goods in accordance with ship schedules.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, maritime safety protocols, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to respond effectively to changing priorities, weather conditions, and operational demands in a maritime environment.
  • Ability to maintain constant awareness of surroundings to prevent accidents, especially when working near docks, cranes, or moving equipment.
  • Ability to assess workload, prioritize urgent deliveries, and meet tight provisioning schedules without compromising accuracy or safety.

Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Lifting and Carrying: Regularly lifts and transports heavy items (50 pounds or more), including provisions, equipment, and supplies, using proper lifting techniques and appropriate material handling tools.
  • Physical Stamina: Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and stooping, particularly during loading/unloading operations and onboard storage organization.
  • Climbing and Mobility: Frequently ascends ladders and gangways and navigates uneven or slippery surfaces while moving between ship decks and dockside platforms.
  • Repetitive Motion: Performs frequent physical tasks involving reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting, often within confined or restricted spaces.
  • Manual dexterity: Utilizes fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to handle equipment and organize supplies accurately and efficiently.
  • Endurance: Capable of executing physically demanding work over extended periods, often under time-sensitive or high-pressure operational conditions.
  • Weather Conditions: Exposure to varying weather conditions, including rain, wind, heat, or cold, while working outdoors on docks or during shipboard operations; limited climate control on deck or in certain onboard environments.
  • Temperature: Work in temperature-controlled environments, such as refrigerated storage areas or freezers, requiring appropriate protective clothing.
  • Noise Level: Exposure to mid to high noise levels from ship engines, loading equipment, and dockside operations, necessitating the use of hearing protection in some cases.
  • Chemical and Allergen Exposure: May encounter cleaning agents, fuel fumes, or other substances; requires strict adherence to safety procedures and use of PPE.
