Job Description The Substation Construction Manager will oversee the construction of substations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires a broad understanding of company policies and procedures, as well as the ability to coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Prioritize and enforce safety protocols on the job site, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project completion.
- Perform inspections, maintain QA/QC documents, and audit construction quality to ensure adherence to standards and specifications.
- Maintain open communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders throughout the project.
- Keep detailed records of construction activities, progress reports, and safety inspections.
- Lead and manage construction activities, including monitoring tasks, providing feedback, and resolving conflicts.
- Possess vast knowledge of electrical schematics, mechanical, civil, and steel structural drawings.
- Identify and resolve issues during construction to ensure the project stays on track.
- Familiarity with concrete work, flat foundations, drill piers, breaker pads, and GSU containment pits.
- Work with EPC to resolve requests for information (RFI) and change orders.
- Perform material procurement and material take-offs.
- Review project upon completion and report successes, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement.
- Work safely near equipment energized at hazardous voltage levels.
- Lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials in hazardous environments and across uneven ground.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Promote open communication with direct reports to enhance teamwork and report issues.
- Support commissioning efforts through energization.
- Proficient in enforcing safety protocols and compliance with industry standards.
- Strong understanding of company policies and procedures.
- Experience in performing inspections and maintaining QA/QC documents.
- Excellent communication skills with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and manage construction projects effectively.
- Vast knowledge of electrical schematics and construction drawings.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve construction issues.
- Proficient computer skills, including a strong grasp of MS Office (Excel, Word, Project) and specialized software for substation construction.
- Experience with concrete work and related construction tasks.
- Ability to work safely in hazardous environments.
- Experience in material procurement and take-offs.
- Experience in supporting commissioning efforts through project energization.
