Position Description:

The Carpenter II position performs a variety of general carpentry tasks in campus buildings, including the installation, repair, and maintenance of doors, windows, walls, floors, locks, closures, ceilings, cabinetry, and furniture. Work involves framing, hanging, and finishing drywall/plaster; laying brick, block, and ceramic tile; forming and pouring concrete; and assembling or repairing furniture, shelving, and bulletin boards.

This is considered an essential employee position that requires on-site presence and availability to work during university closures and emergencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Repair, form, and pour concrete, brick, block, plaster, ceramic tile, and vinyl tile.

  • Perform masonry work as required.

  • Maintain, repair, and install doors, windows, locks, hardware, and furniture.

  • Install new ceilings and repair existing ones.

  • Renovate, frame, and modify existing walls and structures; hang and finish drywall and plaster.

  • Read and interpret blueprints or specifications to determine work requirements.

  • Measure and cut materials for installation or assembly.

  • Follow building plans and specifications to complete assigned projects.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
