We are currently looking for a Mechanical Technician (Bus & Coach) to join our team in Elkhart, IN. The Mechanical Technician (Bus & Coach) has experience in inspection, maintenance, and repair of coaches and buses. This role is responsible for ensuring vehicles operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with all regulations. It will involve diagnosing mechanical faults, performing scheduled maintenance, and completing urgent repairs efficiently.
Job Specific Competencies:
Mechanical
- Perform routine inspections.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and manual assessments.
- Respond to breakdowns and perform roadside or depot repairs when necessary.
- Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with health and safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
- Keep workshop tools and equipment in good condition and report on maintenance needs.
- Assembly of electrical wires and connections within the buses.
- Interchange parts and products to existing buses.
- Proficient with the body and engine modules.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation complies with company and regulatory standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs as required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
Legal Compliance
- Ensure legal compliance with ITAR, state, federal and OSHA requirements.
- Ensure ISO procedures are followed.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Working Conditions:
- Movement - This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office and on the production floor. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Operate/Use - Must be able to operate a computer, machinery, and buses.
- Ascend/Descend - Rarely ascends/descends stairs to reach archived files
- Communicate - This position frequently communicates with co-workers, managers and supervisors. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Transport - This position frequently lifts or moves 50 pounds, occasionally moving up to 75 pounds for various needs.
- Work Environment - Relatively noisy at times and fast paced.
- Travel - Occasional travel to customers and vendors, with overnight stays, may be required.
Minimum Qualifications and Education
- Proven three years of experience as a Mechanical Technician in the automotive or commercial vehicle sector.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems in light and heavy-duty vehicles.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
- Valid drivers license
- CDL preferred.
- ANSI certification preferred.
