Key Responsibilities

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be crucial to the operational readiness and safety of our equipment fleet. Your daily responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on our fleet of equipment, including chippers, stump grinders, bucket trucks, cranes, chainsaws, and other vehicles.

  • Performing routine preventative maintenance on all equipment to minimize downtime and ensure peak performance.

  • Conducting thorough safety inspections and reporting any deficiencies to the shop manager.

  • Driving a company vehicle to various job sites to perform on-site equipment repairs as needed.

  • Maintaining detailed and accurate service records of all repairs and maintenance performed.

  • Managing parts inventory, ordering new parts, and tracking usage.

  • Welding, fabricating, and rebuilding components as necessary to keep equipment in service.

  • Safely operating all equipment to test and verify the success of repairs.

  • The ability to effectively diagnose complex mechanical issues and implement lasting repair solutions.

  • The ability to lift heavy parts and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE, welding, hydraulics) are highly desirable.

  • A valid drivers license is required to operate a company vehicle and travel to job sites.

  • Strong communication skills and a can-do attitude that demonstrates accountability and professionalism.
