Position Summary:
The Painter is responsible for painting and drywall finishing throughout the property, including the hotel rooms, restaurant and public areas assigned by the Chief Engineer. This position is responsible for painting both the interior and exterior walls of the property; maintaining the appearance of the hotel through touch-up tasks, Preventative Maintenance (PM) room assignments, room renovations, and other projects, in a timely manner. The Painter will execute the functions of their job while upholding The Cliffs Mission and Values and Forbes Standards.
Essential Functions of the job:
Inspects hotel interior and exterior, taking action daily for paint touch ups without needing direction
Apply paint, vinyl and wallpaper including special papers and fabrics to walls, furniture and structures
Examine and maintain painted exterior and interior painted surfaces, trimming and fixtures
Prepare surfaces by sanding and cleaning to ensure proper adhesion of primer and paint
Apply paints, stains, shading stains, wood finishes, clear finishes, etc
Apply various textures including orange peel, knockdown, or smooth finishes are directed
Remove previous paint by means of sandblasting, scraping, sanding, hydro-blasting and steam-cleaning
Inspect and refurbish wall surfaces by means of the appropriate materials
Determine, cut and apply wallpaper or fabric to walls and ceilings
Measure, cut, and install drywall panels on wall and ceilings
Identify and repair damaged drywall sections, blending repairs with existing surfaces
Apply tape and joint compound (mud) to seams, corners, and screw/nail indentations to create a smooth and seamless surface
Read blueprints and drawings of the premise for the execution of painting job
Orders and maintains inventory of necessary equipment, materials, and supplies
Operate and maintain various power and manual tools, including high pressure low volume spray machines, while complying with all safety guidelines and policies and ensuring all equipment is in good working order
Maintain logs of Volatile Organic Compound and spray volume
Clean up job site after work and return equipment and tools to their appropriate storage area
Provide assistance to other teammates as directed by Chief Engineer
Responds to facility maintenance requests from guests and staff through in-house ticket management programs, updating with notes and addressing issues in a timely manner, escalating to Chief Engineer when appropriate
Assists in Preventative Maintenance (PM) Program, regularly inspecting rooms to identify and correct issues in guest rooms with paint, wallpaper, etc.; in partnership with Hotel Quality Assurance Manager and Housekeeping team
Assists in any renovation projects and minor construction work including refinishing wall surfaces, painting, staining, etc in partnership with Corporate Engineering team
Complies fully and consistently with all the hotel conditions of employment and standards of uniform, grooming, and personal hygiene.
Communicates clearly and professionally with guests, management, and co-workers.
Attends and reports on time for all meetings and training sessions scheduled by management.
Recognizes and reacts to potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act accordingly, as directed by Company policies, OSHA guidelines, and any local/state ordinances and/or laws
Completes all other tasks as assigned by manager
Qualifications
Good command of English language.
Ability to work with people effectively.
Ability to multitask and work in mentally demanding situations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand continuously for the duration of the shift (eight hours)
Ability to lift up to 65 pounds
Ability to stretch, bend, crouch, squat, and kneel frequently for the duration of the shift
Ability to work in stressful situations.
