GLSS is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic II (Electrician) to support on-going projects at Seymour Johnson AFB, NC.

This role is contingent on award of contract.

The Aircraft Mechanic II will have a working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO).

  • Prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.

  • This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions.

  • Applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.

  • Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.

Experience required:

  • Must have four (4) or more year's total experience in aircraft maintenance as an aircraft avionics or electrician.

  • Must have one (1) or more years of experience maintaining and repairing on the F-15 aircraft electrical systems.

  • Must have the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, components and the skill to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications.

  • Must also have the skill to identify and isolate integrated systems malfunctions to analyze performance and operate integrated avionics systems to determine operational condition per operational checks.

  • Must have experience using specialized tools required for military aviation electrical connector assembly or disassembly and associated electrical terminating devices.

  • Must have aircraft modification and operational checks experience as well as experience in electrical harness fabrication and braiding.

  • Knowledge is mandatory of electrical, electronic, microelectronic, mechanical and indicator principles theory:

  • Application relating to electrical systems

  • Concepts and application of maintenance directives

  • Meaning of symbols used in wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics

  • Using and interpreting testing and measuring devices

  • Proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials

Requirements:

  • Must have a High School Diploma, or equivalent, with successful completion of related military or commercial courses. Courses in basic electronics, mathematics, general science, physics, and mechanics are desirable.

  • Must have an active Secret Clearance.

  • Normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations, and Standards is mandatory for this specialty.
