JOB DESCRIPTION:

Assist journeyman electrician to maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for the District, including kitchen equipment. Assist journeyman electrician in maintaining and providing for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems in District facilities.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Help or assist Journeyman Electrician in daily tasks as directed by the Electrician or Electrical Supervisor.
• Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
• Follow Chain of command Procedures
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor.
• Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
• Inspect tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
• Maintain inventory of District-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
• Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Regular attendance.
• Follow all district rules regulations and policies.
• Other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Texas driving license
• Electrical Apprentice License (obtain within 90 days of hire)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Willing attitude and ability to learn

Continual walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching. Working in

tiring and uncomfortable positions around equipment with high speed moving parts. Ability to lift 50 pounds above

head. Working in and around equipment panels with high voltage electrical connections. Working with or around high-

pressure refrigerants, gas and air lines. Working with or around equipment where combustion of flammable gasses are

present. Exposure to dampness, excessive noises, gas lines, extreme temperatures, humidity, dust, toxic and or corrosive

chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline and diesel fuel. Frequent District wide travel.
