About the Role: Ready to Lead?
As an Engineering Supervisor, you'll oversee the Plan Review Engineering Section, ensuring projects align with water resources requirements while upholding city, state, and federal standards. Your leadership ensures Greensboro's infrastructure is designed to be efficient, safe, and sustainable.
Key responsibilities include:
Supervising and mentoring a team of four full-time staff within the Engineering Division.
Providing technical guidance and oversight for plan reviews related to water, sewer, stormwater, and watershed management.
Representing Water Resources interests on interdepartmental committees and project teams.
Reviewing and responding to questions and concerns from staff, management, private developers, engineers, agencies, and citizens.
Working independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Delivering excellent customer service while maintaining compliance and efficiency.
This role requires strong communication skills, technical expertise, and the ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on engineering support.

This job is Exempt and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
"OR" an equivalency of a 2-year degree in Engineering or a related field with 10+ years of experience in related work (ability to sit for the P. E. licensure)
4+ years of experience in Water Resources Engineering or related work
Valid Driver's License
NC Professional Engineering License (OR the ability to obtain within 18 months)
Certified Floodplain Manager ( OR ability to obtain within 18 months)
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field (Civil, Environmental, Water Resources Engineering)
- 1+ year of supervisory experience
- Experience with plan review, design, and construction projects,
- Experience interpreting and applying policies and ordinances in regards to Engineering Plan Review
- Certified Floodplain Manager
