Machine Operator Job Description The Machine Operator is responsible for operating machinery that cuts and bends steel in a fabrication shop, contributing to the manufacturing of industrial handrails and gates. This role requires moving materials into the correct positions with a strong focus on detail and safety. If you have a passion for working with steel and fabrication, we encourage you to apply. Responsibilities Operate machinery to cut and bend steel for fabrication. Ensure materials are positioned correctly for processing. Maintain attention to detail and adhere to safety protocols. Use and read tape measures accurately, including measurements of 1/16", 1/8", and 1/4". Participate in grinding and welding activities as required. Perform general labor tasks related to machine operation and steel fabrication. Work with industrial saws, shear, and press brake machinery. Essential Skills Experience operating machinery in a fabrication shop. Proficiency in using and reading tape measures. Ability to lift and move steel pipes weighing between 30-70 lbs. Experience with industrial saws, shear, and press brake machinery. Understanding of welding and fabrication processes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CNC machinery is preferred. Ability to work with designs, drawings, or schematics. Experience in grinding and welding is advantageous. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work is conducted in a fabrication shop specializing in the production of handrails for commercial and industrial use. The position is on the first shift from 7am to 3:30pm, with opportunities for overtime. Job Type & Location This position is based out of Bernalillo, New Mexico. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
