**Responsibilities:**
- **Surface Preparation:** Prepare construction sites by smoothing and leveling surfaces to prepare for the placement of concrete. This includes aligning forms, setting up reinforcement materials such as rebar and wire mesh, and ensuring surfaces are clean and free of debris.
- **Concrete Placement:** Collaborate with team members to pour, spread, and level concrete. Use hand tools such as rakes, trowels, and screeds to spread concrete to specified depths and ensure optimal compaction and smoothness.
- **Finishing Techniques:** Utilize a variety of finishing techniques to achieve the desired texture and appearance, including troweling, floating, brushing, and edging. Attention to detail is crucial to produce high-quality finishes that meet project specifications.
- **Curing Methods:** Apply curing and sealing compounds to ensure proper drying and hardening of concrete surfaces. Protect and monitor curing concrete to prevent damage and achieve the required structural integrity.
- **Repair and Maintenance:** Assess and repair existing concrete structures by cutting out damaged areas, preparing patches, and applying new concrete. Perform regular maintenance to ensure longevity and durability of concrete surfaces.
- **Safety Compliance:** Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment. Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in safety meetings and training as required.
- **Equipment Operation:** Operate and maintain various tools and equipment associated with cement masonry, including power tools, mixers, and compactors. Ensure all equipment is used correctly and efficiently.
- **Collaboration and Communication:** Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other tradespeople to ensure seamless cooperation and successful project outcomes. Communicate effectively to address any issues, changes, or requirements on the job site.
- **Quality Assurance:** Conduct thorough inspections and quality checks to ensure that work meets established standards and specifications. Take corrective actions as needed to address any deficiencies.
**Qualifications:**
- Proven experience as a Cement Mason or Concrete Finisher, with a solid understanding of concrete properties and construction techniques.
- Familiarity with construction tools, machinery, and equipment, with the ability to operate them safely and efficiently.
- Strong knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction and repair of concrete structures.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the capability to work independently or as part of a team.
- A proactive approach to safety and a commitment to maintaining a secure work environment.
- Relevant certifications or completed apprenticeships in cement masonry or concrete finishing are preferred but not mandatory.
**Working Conditions:**
- Work typically takes place outdoors on construction sites, involving exposure to various weather conditions.
- The role may require working at heights or in confined spaces.
- Regular bending, lifting, and carrying of materials are integral parts of the job.
