Salary Range : Up to $58,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours : 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions
Job Summary
Work with sponsored projects staff and unit leadership to coordinate teams and provide pre-award application development support services towards the submission of applications for extramural funding or recognition in collaboration with the UTSA research community and associated collaborators. Responsible for identifying funding opportunities/sponsors, providing editing, critical review, and/or writing support, and coordinating proposal teams, as indicated, to secure public and private extramural funding or prestigious awards/recognitions. Primarily services a specific department, college or organized research unit.
Core Responsibilities
- Search for and disseminate funding opportunities, policy updates, and opportunities for competitive scholarly awards or recognitions to relevant parties.
- Provide targeted funding search and application support for new faculty hires or researchers/teams working in unit strategic areas of interest/expertise.
- Assist with completing and uploading non-financial sponsor required forms or application documents for internal routing or external submission (in coordination with sponsored projects staff) of applications for extramural funding or recognition, to include filling in forms or templates, formatting documents, uploading files to internal or external sites.
- Facilitate teaming (team formation), meetings, and tracking task assignments and progress, as well as assist with collecting application materials for larger project teams.
- Work closely with sponsored projects staff and researchers to organize proposal presentations and to reliably meet all sponsor expectations.
- Maintain institutional data and other support documentation (samples, templates) for proposal development activities.
- Manage programs related to funding opportunity development such as limited submission and proposal development workshops.
- Engage with external partners to develop research collaborations and serve as a liaison to sponsor organizations (federal/state government, private foundations, and companies).
- Maintain working knowledge of typical sponsor requirements, federal regulations, and use of online funding search and submission portals.
- Attends and makes presentations at conferences and workshops.
- Conducts training sessions on grantsmanship topics relevant to the research community.
- Engages in strategic planning activities with unit leadership and researchers/research teams in regards to goals and expectations for extramural funding, teaming initiatives and other priority areas.
- Engages in critical review or editing of technical project reports (post-award).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in proposal development, pre-award research administration, business administration, higher education, and/or contract development in government, academia, or industry settings.
- Proven experience in designing and executing successful project management.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution.
- Certified Research Administrator (CRA).
- Experience searching for funding opportunities and/or preparing proposals for submission utilizing Grants.gov, Research.gov, Fastlane, eRA, Commons, Cayuse, Pivot, Foundation Search, Academic Analytics, or similar systems.
- Similar writing or proposal development experience in higher education.
- Knowledge of UT System rules and regulations.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Experience with Microsoft applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Access.
- Proficient i Microsoft Office, Adobe Professional and other related applications.
- Standard office equipment.
- UTSA is a tobacco free campus.

Working Conditions
Working Environment:
- Typical business setting working conditions; able to work under strict time constraints.
- Overtime hours occasionally required to meet deadlines.
Physical Demands:
- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasional.
This position will require working both remotely in Texas and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
