Basic Job Functions:

Safety is th emost important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance, installation, troubleshooting and repairing breakdowns of all electrical and instrumentation systems on the plant, inclusive of all automation and electrical power and backup systems. Additional responsibilities include planning and executing scheduled maintenance activities and projects, executing preventative and predictive maintenance activities, recommending and implementing plant modifications and improvements, assisting in development of maintenance procedures and safety systems, as well as spare parts review as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience as an industrial electrical technician in a manufacturing facility.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and Word
Preferences:
  • Licensed electrician with recognized certification
  • Hands-onn experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) troubleshooting
  • Knowledge in hydraulic/pneumatic/mechanical design, repair, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with high voltage electrical systems.
Work Environment

This is a physical active role which requires lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Range of motion will include squatting, bending, standing, walking and reaching. May be required to enter areas that are near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate and may require the use of hearing protection. Required to utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) when accessing certain manufacturing areas, (hard hat, gloves, welding jacket or weld bibs, safety glasses, welding hood and earplugs.)

Must be willing to work weekends, rotating shifts, and scheduled/unscheduled overtime.
