JOB DESCRIPTION

The Project Engineer plays a critical role in the integration of sustainability into daily operations by tracking key metrics and leading impactful efficiency initiatives. This position requires a balance of data-driven analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic thinking to improve environmental performance while aligning with business objectives. Success in this role means embedding sustainability into company culture, delivering measurable results and savings, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

1. Organizational Development (10%)
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, Commercial, HR, and Finance to embed sustainability into core business functions.
  • Partner with teams to identify and prioritize operational efficiency projects aligned with energy, waste, and water reduction goals.
2. Core Results (70%)
  • Lead projects to improve manufacturing efficiency, including energy performance, waste reduction, and resource optimization.
  • Drive sustainability metric tracking, reporting, and improvement, ensuring accuracy and alignment with internal and external standards.
  • Analyze energy usage data and recommend projects or technologies that improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Support supplier engagement and data collection for Scope 3 emissions, working with internal and external partners to improve transparency.
  • Leverage data visualization tools to analyze trends, measure impact, and inform sustainability decision-making.
3. Enterprise Value Creation (20%)
  • Lead enterprise-value efficiency and performance projects with environmental and cost savings benefits.
  • Identify and implement innovative efficiency and sustainability solutions, such as circular economy strategies, renewable energy options, and sustainable product enhancements.
  • Support integration of sustainability into business planning through data-driven insights that highlight ROI and risk reduction.
Sample Projects May Include:
  • Conducting a compressed air audit across multiple sites to identify and eliminate leaks, reducing energy consumption.
  • Supporting the implementation of LED lighting upgrades to lower electricity costs and improve facility efficiency.
  • Tracking key sustainability metrics and reporting outcomes to highlight progress, impact, and cost savings.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience.
  • Project management experience. This may come from a Sr. Design Project/Capstone, internship, professional position, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
