Snapshot of the Role
As a Painter with Husco, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper preparation and application of paint coatings to Husco’s products. Your responsibility includes maintaining equipment, monitoring product quality, and adhering to safety and environmental standards. Your expertise in paint application and attention to detail will contribute to the overall quality of our manufactured products.
Pay: $17 an hour
Shift: 2nd Shift
Location: Maquoketa, Iowa
What You’ll be Doing:
- Paint Preparation and Application: Prepare surfaces for painting in accordance with company specifications. Load and unload products, apply paint coatings using various methods such as spraying, brushing, or dipping. Start up and shut down paint line. Ensure consistent coverage and quality of paint application.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on paint application equipment, including cleaning and calibrating. Identify and report equipment malfunctions or defects to the maintenance team. Assist in the setup and configuration of paint lines and spray booths.
- Quality Control: Inspect painted products for defects, inconsistencies, or imperfections. Make necessary adjustments to the painting process to maintain product quality. Record and report any quality issues to supervisors for resolution. Collaborate with quality control personnel to meet quality standards.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for handling paints, chemicals, and equipment. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to paint and waste disposal. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Inventory Management: Monitor paint inventory levels. Properly store and label paints and chemicals in designated areas. Document paint usage and maintain accurate records.
What You’ll Need:
- High School Diploma, GED (or equivalent)
- Forklift truck operation certification and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Understanding of material handling methods, efficient material storage techniques and space utilization concepts.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Mathematical and record keeping skills.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements:
Shop environment may have exposure to oil, fumes, moderate noise levels and metal particles. Safety shoes and safety glasses are required. Face masks, shields and earplugs when required.
- Physical Endurance: Sufficient physical stamina to maintain productivity and focus during fast-paced assembly work, often under time constraints, without compromising accuracy or safety.
- Lifting and Carrying: The ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, including components, tools, and finished products. Adherence to proper lifting techniques and safety procedures to avoid risk of injury.
- Standing and Walking: The capacity to stand and walk for a minimum of eight (8) hours throughout the workday, as painting tasks often involve moving on the paint line, in booths, in the warehouse and to and from assembly lines.
- Physical Flexibility: Flexibility to assume various positions, such as bending, kneeling, or crouching, when necessary for accessing and assembling components in tight spaces or awkward angles.
- Dexterity, Hand-eye Coordination and Foot Controls: Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to grasp small parts, use handheld scanners/tools, paint guns, and operate powered industrial equipment with foot controls repetitively.
- Repetitive Motions: The capability to perform repetitive motions, such as grasping, twisting, and operating hand scanners, paint guns or machinery, as these actions are integral to the painting process.
- Vision: Good vision, including the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions. Visual sharpness, depth perception, and distinguishing color are all crucial for identifying defects, aligning components, and ensuring quality control.
