What You'll Be DoingJob Scope: The Large Capital Project Manager is accountable for leading a cross functional team in the successful execution of a production equipment expansion project at the site. This Project Manager will drive Front End Engineering efforts through equipment start-up, and is accountable for achieving all safety, schedule, operability, and cost goals for the assigned project.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
A leader in safety on assigned projects, including setting expectations and being visible in the field.
Able to identify key resource needs and engage with site leadership to support project staffing
As required, prepares detailed estimates and schedules for review by the project team, leadership and project stakeholders
Assures project team ownership of the scope, estimate, and schedule
Manages execution of all assigned projects through the stage gate process
Holds team members accountable for results and is responsible for requesting all people assets needed to successfully complete assigned projects.
Clearly identifies project risks and lead development of appropriate mitigation strategies which can then be shared with site leadership
Responsible for change management implementation on assigned projects and the ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
Development and selection of execution, contracting, and funding strategies that support project objectives and the effective investment of capital.
Holds regular project steering team meetings with stakeholders and site leadership
Prepares project charters, funding presentations, spend forecasts, financial reports, and schedule of values for project completion. Able to communicate any noted discrepancies to plan effectively and clearly to stakeholders.
In cooperation with the Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) organization, accountable for securing all project permits and assuring all process hazard reviews have been conducted effectively and resulting scope is identified for the project Previous experience leading large CAPEX projects Desired Characteristics Previous experience leading projects executed using an EPC strategy
Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization.
Excellent team management and relationship building skills.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6
Working experience at a PSM regulated site
Ideal Background
Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university is preferred.
Certification: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.
Experience: This position requires 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.
