Position Summary:
The Foreman/Service Team Lead is a leadership role responsible for supervising a team of service technicians to ensure quality work performed in a timely manner. The Service Team Leads primary responsibilities include technician work assignment, establishing repair estimates, customer communication and proper repair management to achieve customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise your own team of service technicians (6-8 employees) to perform quality work in a timely manner
Assign and prioritize work to the correct service technician
Communicate directly with customers to diagnosis the work required and translate this directly to the service technician assigned to perform the work
Provide the customer with accurate repair estimates and keep the customers informed of the repair progress and any additional work required
Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer's procedures and in safe and responsible manner within the designated timeframe
Interpreting work orders and technical manuals
Assist in fault diagnosis and troubleshooting mechanical & electrical failures
Comply with warranty procedures during repairs and warranty materials on completion of repairs.
Testing and inspecting vehicles to ensure repairs are completed to manufacturers specifications and Government standards
Ensure service documentation is completed as per instructions.
Work with parts team to ensure the replacement parts are sourced for the repair in the most efficient way
Supervise and train technicians and apprentices with their work
Review completed work to ensure it meets the expected standards of quality
Review all work orders when the work is completed and before the customer is contacted
Ensure the department is clean and organized to maintain efficiency and meet required safety standards
Follows the correct processes and procedures when performing the role
Participates in any technical or development training that is made available
Performs the role in a professional manner that aligns with the Companys values and ideals
Qualifications:
Qualified Heavy Truck Mechanic - Red Seal Journeyman Truck & Transport Technician certificate or equivalent is required.
Minimum of 3-5 years experience in the medium/heavy duty truck dealership atmosphere
Previous experience in a service supervisory role (lead hand) is an asset
Previous International and Cummins experience is an asset
High degree of product and technical knowledge
A good understanding of OEM warranty requirements and processes
Organized with strong leadership skills
Strong commitment to the customer and ensuring quality workmanship with a superior service experience
Excellent customer service skills with strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent computer skills; including Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work a variety of shifts including 7 days on, 7 days off.
Previous CDK experience is an asset
Class 3 is an asset.
