A Day in the Life of a Project Director

As a Project Director, you estimate projects using software such as Xactimate to create the scope of work. You work in collaboration with the Operations team by gathering field measurements, notes/plans, photo documentation, and materials necessary while using your understanding of restoration and the true costs of construction to create accurate estimates and preliminary budgets. Your service-oriented mindset and positive disposition come through in every interaction, fostering strong relationships with coworkers, clients, and subcontractors and making collections activity a breeze.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall management of the Project
  • Solicit, receive, and approve proposals from subcontractors to perform work within budget
  • Prepare project schedules, including job crew and subcontractors' schedules, according to the scope of work
  • Manage, support, and assist job crews
  • Fill in as needed when additional responsibilities/tasks need to be completed, including physical labor
  • Create and maintain job activity paperwork and jobsite inventories
  • Maintain a daily log of conditions, activities, communications, and notable events
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and other job-related administrative documents
  • Report all job site accidents to safety and leadership
  • Proactively monitors and provides updates when there is a risk of a project not meeting expected budget, gross profit margin, or schedule
  • Manage receipt and approval of change orders
  • Perform and ensure the execution of daily job site safety meetings
  • Meet all FOS standards and deadlines for client deliverables consistently, such as new loss notifications, scope letters, estimates, change orders, daily field reports, invoicing, and project close-outs
  • Maintain job-specific requirements within Salesforce
  • Complete mitigation field assessments, utilize construction knowledge to determine mitigation scope
  • Develop the mitigation scope of work and build budget sheets
  • Work with the operations team for scope development, production, and budgets
  • Develop job-specific budgets and maintain margin requirements
  • Gather and build change orders to address project developments and maintain margin requirements
  • Complete spreadsheet review and audits
  • Work with operations to address changes in spreadsheets to ensure the project plan and budget are aligned and produced as presented
  • Manage bids and RFP packages
  • Produce estimates in Xactimate, T&M or other professional estimation tool
  • Gather all necessary field measurements/psychometrics calculations, notes, plans, photo documentation, materials, etc., to prepare estimates
  • Develop scope letters and establish ROM and burn rates
  • Ability to respond 24/7

Experience & Education:

  • Relevant leadership experience
  • Experience with construction drawings, specifications, and other construction-related documents
  • Large loss experience
  • 3+ years' industry experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of four (4) certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field, preferred
  • Work experience in the disaster restoration field, preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
