BBCH Support Services, LLC (BBCH) is seeking a full-time federal contracts professional to join its team as a Contract Specialist. The Contract Specialist will work collaboratively with a team of contract administrators, attorneys, and operations personnel to perform a wide range of contract management activities.

In this key position, the successful candidate must be able to leverage an in-depth understanding of federal contracting processes and requirements and demonstrate an ability to provide timely, effective contractual guidance in fast paced environments. The ability to manage a diverse workload in changing environments and build trusted relationships across business units and departments is a foundational requirement of this position.

Location: The position is available as an in-office or hybrid position, but fully remote accommodations will be considered for the right candidate. Potential office locations include:

Pay Range: $95,000-125,000

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties, but not all duties performed for this position. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Review and negotiate prime and subcontract terms as needed;
  • Coordinate and regularly interface with contract administrators, preconstruction teams, proposal personnel, and project teams as necessary to identify and mitigate contract-related risks;
  • Work closely with contract administrators and legal staff to manage contract changes, requests for equitable adjustment (REA), and claims;
  • Provide change management support to project teams;
  • Review and provide guidance concerning contractual and quasi-contractual issues; and
  • Staying current with contract management rules/regulations, practices and procedures in order to serve as a subject matter expert supporting project operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • A (4) year degree or equivalent in applicable field of study and five (5) years of work-related experience, or a combination of directly-related experience and education equal to nine (9) years if non-degreed;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • 5 years of prime or subcontract management experience in a Federal Government contracting environment;
  • Certification in Contract Management is a plus;
  • Thorough understanding of FAR and FAR supplemental regulations;
  • In depth understanding of various government contract types (e.g. IDIQ, cost-reimbursable, firm fixed price, etc.), regulations, processes, and procedures;
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex subcontract and prime contract-related issues, ensuring that resolution is consistent with company mandates in a timely manner;
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations;
  • A working knowledge of construction, environmental, A/E, or civil construction;
  • Ability to exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, subcontractors and suppliers; and
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Additional Qualifying Factors:

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening (post accepted offer) and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.

This position requires the ability to maneuver around work sites, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; frequent opportunity to move about and to work outside the office environment for extended periods involving exposure to the elements with weather that will include extreme heat, cold, wind, rain or other inclement weather, walking over rough and uneven surfaces, and routine lifting of up to 35 pounds. If required, must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times including but not limited to: hard hats, steel toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection. Must always maintain a constant state of mental alertness.

Working Conditions

Job is performed in a combination of office and outdoor site locations. The office setting includes exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Outdoor settings include walking, driving, and carrying supplies throughout all seasons with exposure to heat and cold conditions, and potentially wildlife. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and loud noise.
