Welder Master

Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Physical Plant Services invites applications for the position of Welder Master. The duties of this position typically consist of fabricating metal products, cutting or threading metal, performing cutting/welding operations on structural steel including gas pipe repairs. Applicants must be able to use gas or electric arc welding equipment. May perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Must be able to obtain current structural welding certification within six months of employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:

Three years of experience or training in the welding trade; OR

Completion of a Technical Diploma or Associate of Applied Science welding program from a Louisiana Technical or Community College or equivalent program from other institutions plus one year of experience or training in the welding trade.

NOTE:
The Technical Diploma and Associate of Applied Science welding programs offered by Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) schools consist of 45-75 credit hours of coursework. Certificate of Technical Studies (CTS) and Technical Competency Area (TCA) credentials offered by LCTCS schools are not equivalent programs and will be credited under the first substitution.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Code certification in accordance with API Standard 1104 or ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code may be required.
