Steam/Pipe fitter Needed Immediately! Local Company - VA Tech Project Great Benefits PLUS Pay $34/hr. (Prevailing Wage Job) Job Description We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join our team for a project at Virginia Tech. This is a prevailing wage job site with competitive pay. The ideal candidate will have experience in steam fitting, pipefitting, or industrial mechanical work and will be proficient with steam traps, piping systems, and plumbing tools. This role involves the installation, assembly, and maintenance of piping systems, including steam systems, and requires a flexible approach to working across different locations as needed. Responsibilities Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems, including steam systems. Understand and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Perform duct work and ensure proper installation. Troubleshoot and repair piping systems. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards. Work flexibly across different locations as needed. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience in steam fitting, pipefitting, or industrial mechanical work (preferred). Proficiency with steam traps, piping systems, and plumbing tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Strong background in steam systems and mechanical systems. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Additional Skills & Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience as a fitter (5+ years preferred). Strong communication and teamwork skills. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm, with potential variations depending on project demands. The project is located at Virginia Tech, running through mid-October, with the potential for a long-term position. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor climates, with the furthest site being 2 hours away. Employees are typically home at night and can carpool from Park and Ride in Salem, VA. Personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety vest, and steel-toed boots is required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roanoke, Virginia. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
