Actalent is seeking to hire an Electrical Technician, who begins their day by reviewing engineering drawings and schematics to plan the day's builds. The primary focus is on fabricating wire harnesses, which involves cutting, crimping, soldering, and labeling wires using aerospace-grade techniques. Throughout the day, the technician performs continuity and insulation resistance tests to ensure each assembly meets strict quality standards. When issues arise, they troubleshoot wiring problems and collaborate with engineering or quality teams to resolve discrepancies. Accurate documentation and adherence to safety and compliance protocols are integral to every task.
Responsibilities
Fabricate and terminate wire harnesses and electrical assemblies according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
Perform continuity checks, insulation resistance tests, and functional tests using specialized tools and test equipment.
Identify and resolve wiring issues, including shorts, opens, or damaged wires.
Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to address discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
Crimp, solder, and label wires using approved aerospace techniques.
Read and interpret complex wiring diagrams, schematics, and harness installation documents.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and compliance with ASTM regulations.
Follow safety procedures, standard operating protocols, and quality control standards at all times.
Essential Skills
Ability to build and terminate wire harnesses and electrical assemblies from engineering drawings and schematics.
Proficiency in performing continuity checks, insulation resistance tests, and functional tests using specialized equipment.
Capability to identify and resolve wiring issues such as shorts, opens, or damaged wires.
Strong ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams and installation documents.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Background in electronics manufacturing, especially from companies like Intel or similar electromechanical environments, is highly relevant.
Experience in aerospace or aviation environments is a strong plus due to the precision and regulatory demands.
Precision in wiring and testing is critical.
Adherence to safety procedures and quality control standards is essential.
Ability to think critically and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Work Environment
The work environment includes a combination of manufacturing and engineering settings, with a dedicated workstation and active involvement on the floor. Benefits include 2 weeks paid time off, holiday and sick leave, opportunities for hands-on work, and participation in flying events.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
