Job Summary: Position Title: 988 Loader Operator
Reports To: Log Yard Supervisor
Department: SPW Log Yard
Hours per shift: Employee works 8-hour shifts, with two 10-minute breaks, and 30-minute unpaid lunch.
Day: 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Swing: 3:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.
Wage: Level 5
Position Purpose: Facilitate the steady flow of logs into the mill and to the log processing area. Works closely with truck drivers, shovel operator, and de-barker operator.
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 to operate equipment.
Must have excellent hand eye coordination.
Use vision/hearing continuously.
Reading and speech required to communicate comprehension of Job Hazard Analysis, machine specific lockout procedures, monthly safety training, etc.
Worker generally works alone with little supervision.
Operators must be self-directed in identifying and efficiently completing each task.
Experience to prioritize, organize and make necessary decisions.
Essential Functions (These duties are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job.):
*Daily checks of fluid levels and perform preventative maintenance checks on all components of loader.
*Report any problems with machine immediately to supervisor and tag out machine for repair.
*Unload Log trucks.
*Lay out logs for scalers.
*Transport scaled logs to log deck.
*Transport logs to the log infeed deck.
*Assist Shovel operator by supplying or removing logs.
*Maintain cleanliness of the yard.
*Other duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Functions (These duties are secondary in nature and are not classified as ADA essential.)
*The worker may be required to rotate to different positions for cross training purposes or to facilitate production. Job duties for other positions are outlined in their individual job descriptions. Assist Co-Workers or maintenance personnel in basic maintenance and upkeep of machine.
