Job Summary

Responsible for meeting customer needs by:

  • Lead, train, and mentor production team to meet daily KPI targets following the SQDCP model (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People).
  • Driving initiatives across operational departments, including procedures, continuous improvement initiatives, and equipment needs.
  • Leading and helping team members to meet the production schedule to ensure customer needs are met
  • Providing timely communication to employees, Manager and other areas as required (i.e., documentation, reports).
  • Provide employee performance appraisals timely and hold employees accountable for performance and values
  • Manage time and attendance for direct employees
  • Securing building following shifts and opening building prior to production each day
  • Solving problems with processes, employees, products and customers
  • Measure and drive improvements in KPIs
  • Be an active contributor to TBEI’s behavioral based safety (BBS) program and complete weekly departmental audits timely
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Functions / Competency:

  • Two-year formal education in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Must have a strong understanding of welding concepts, including MIG and TIG, as well as manufacturing processes.
  • Proven track record of leadership success
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • An understanding of lean principles and the ability to lead employees in the use of the lean tools.
  • Lead with Safety as a priority, following safety and environmental guidelines and work procedures.
  • Must be able to prioritize and work on multiple projects and meet delivery dates.
  • Understand a Bill of Material structure and product flow. Product knowledge is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Lean, Six-Sigma and Kaizen planning are strongly preferred.
  • Must have flexibility, creativity, teambuilding, leadership, decision making, and interpersonal skills to identify, analyze, and solve problems along with train and mentor employees.
  • Excellent communication skills must be used to regularly communicate and/or discuss issues affecting production, equipment, personnel, safety and their resolutions as appropriate; communication ranges from individual development conversations up to public speaking for larger audiences.
  • Ability to apply working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and effectively use through computer systems and software.

Physical Demands

  • Prompt and reliable attendance. The weekly schedule is approximately 45 hours per week. Additional and flexible hours may be required to meet customer needs.
  • Ability to work on concrete in a variety of positions including but not limited to kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning, and occasionally climbing. Ability to walk and stand on concrete for 90% of the shift.
  • Ability to manually move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through occasional heavy physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and bending. Using the overhead hoists requires ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Occasional travel may be required. Valid driver’s license with good driving record is required.

Additional Job Information:

  • Wage Expectations: $70,000 to $85,000 per year
  • Pay: This is an exempt, salary position and employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis
  • Typical Schedule: Four (4) Ten (10) hour days M-F, Friday as needed
  • Location: On Site – 52182 Ember Road, Lake Crystal MN 56055
  • Travel: Very minimal to none
