Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities Management, manages facility projects, including renovations, new construction, maintenance, and improvements. Provides consulting, estimating, planning and design services, as well as construction management, implementation, and quality control. The FPI Facilities Project Manager works on a variety of projects, equipment, and systems, including architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and specialized medical equipment systems. Responsible for all aspects of project management including defining requirements and deliverables and leading cross-functional teams to deliver projects within the constraints of schedule, budget, and resources. Demonstrates sufficient knowledge and experience to appropriately apply an effective project management methodology to projects that have well-defined requirements and deliverables.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops conceptual plans and budgets for facilities projects to support fiscal decision-making.
- Coordinates with proponent groups and building maintenance to facilitate rational facility planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Develops planning documents for initiation of projects to gain approval at the leadership level.
- Prepares requests for proposal and conducts all necessary meetings to facilitate hiring architectural construction management services.
- Monitors and reports on all phases of planning and construction.
- Coordinates all parties involved in the planning, design and construction process.
- Develops and maintains in collaboration with the Associate Director of Infrastructure Services facility project budgets.
- Conducts pre-construction conference, reviews, bids, and recommends award of contract.
- Prepares construction contracts and monitors their execution.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Architecture, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, Construction Management; or equivalent experience
- Fifteen years of planning and construction experience, including construction supervisory experience; or, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
- Project Management Professional certification; or equivalent project management experience
- Fifteen years of project management experience; or, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
