Clark is currently seeking a highly talented Senior Mechanical Estimator with expertise in Mechanical HVAC Piping and Plumbing system cost estimating. In this role, you will be an integral member of our National Systems Group supporting large complex projects across the country. The project types range from design build, design assist, or any project where Clark has early involvement with the developer or end user. You will provide critical guidance on one or more of our projects--leveraging internal resources, creativity, professional relationships, and proven processes to manage complex workflows. This role can be based in any one of the following offices: McLean, VA, Richmond, VA, or Baltimore, MD.
Responsibilities
Successfully deliver a Mechanical Piping and or Plumbing Estimate, Budget, or ROM cost based on various levels of design and available information
Actively participate with the design-build or design-assist team, including regular interfaces with clients, designers, trade partners and other key stakeholders
Attend stakeholder decision meetings, design progress meetings
Shape cost deliverables and workflow during the design process, including critical decisions regarding all mechanical cost associated with this trade
Provide the Systems group with a cost model that can be used in presenting owners and architects early budgeting and in evaluating our Mechanical subcontractors proposals
Manage cost/budget issue resolution in real-time
Collaborate internally with technical teams and project managers
Participate in development of RFP and RFQ responses including providing strategic insights to pursuit strategy
Review Owner program requirements to develop concept-level cost strategies
Operate and maintain Trimble Auto Bid Mechanical estimating software
Track material and labor cost trends
Maintain database of historical estimates and unit cost
Leverage knowledge base and experience to collect and analyze cost data, identify options, provide recommendations and solutions to budget and design issues as they arise
Collaborate with EOR partners (whether as consultant to architect or part of design-build subcontract) to continuously shape cost during Schematic Design and Design Development and support alternative concept evaluation, including value analysis concepts, to maintain cost and constructability
Provide occasional support to project teams to help problem solve high-level field issues related to design changes and value engineering
Collaborate with trade managers/other estimators and our Trade Partners to develop a complete project cost
Basic Qualifications
10+ years relevant work experience in commercial/industrial mechanical construction
5 + years of experience composing estimates and budgets
Working knowledge of industry recognized estimating software such as Trimble Auto Bid or others
Familiarity with MCAA and SMACNA labor standards
Proficiency in conceptual estimating

Preferred Qualifications
Design-Build delivery experience
Strong knowledge of design and cost management principles and practices
Knowledge of applicable mechanical and plumbing codes and regulations
Clear understanding of integrated design and construction schedules
Appreciation and understanding of jobsite control and management principles, and processes
Ability to lead a collaborative cost estimating process with various stakeholders
Strong knowledge of common office software, such as Microsoft Excel , Word and Bluebeam
Ability to train, manage, and influence direct reports
Ability to motivate and collaborate with peers working at other firms
Ability to work with and present to executive leadership
Ability to participate in pursuit efforts for design-build and design-assist projects
Self-motivated, organized team player with ability to manage work priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to develop and maintain a collaborative, creative work environment and influence others
