Role Description
PIKE Technologies is seeking an experienced Opto-Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for designing mechanical and opto-mechanical components and systems used in spectroscopy applications. The engineer will develop detailed product designs using CAD software, collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product development cycle, and oversee prototype testing and final validation processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Design precision opto-mechanical components and assemblies for spectroscopy instruments and accessories
- Create and maintain detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software
- Collaborate with optical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and performance
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input throughout the product lifecycle
- Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs
- Identify and implement improvements to existing products and processes
- Support custom design projects based on customer specifications
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required
- 710 years of relevant experience in mechanical or opto-mechanical design engineering
- Strong proficiency in mechanical design, product development, and CAD modeling (e.g., SolidWorks)
- Experience with precision machining, assembly techniques, and materials selection
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment
- Experience in spectroscopy, optics, or laboratory instrumentation is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with optical alignment, thermal analysis, and vibration control
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles
- Knowledge of automation or motion control systems
