HVAC Mechanic I (S03435) Montgomery College

Montgomery College, Rockville has an immediate need for a HVAC I. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm. This is a bargaining, non-Exempt, grade 21 position. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Perform general HVAC maintenance related tasks. Assist journey level mechanics in installation and repair of commercial mechanical air-conditioning, heating and ventilating equipment and control systems.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot air distribution, air balancing, stratification, building insulation and vapor deficiencies.

• Repair or replace failed sensors, transmitters and transducers for control systems.

• Repair, retrofit or install new direct digital control systems' (DDC) hardware and adjust boilers, chillers, air handling units, motor controls, refrigerant systems operating parameters from their own interface panels or the building automation systems (BAS).

• Install, maintain and retrofit new electro-mechanical relay logic control circuits, pneumatic logic controls, damper or valve actuators and/or variable frequency drives.

• Maintains records of work performed and parts and materials used.

• Maintain records of equipment operation logs to include temperature, pressures, volts, amps, safety inspections and equipment refrigerant records.

• Maintain records of equipment failures and repairs.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required.

• One year of experience in heating, cooling and ventilation systems. Basic familiarity with electrical and mechanical components and functions of HVAC systems and/or boilers and tools of the trade.

• The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

• HVAC Apprentice License, Driver's License

Hiring Range: $23.80 - $30.93 hourly. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $38.06.
