  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a directly related field of engineering supplemented by two years of progressively responsible Civil Engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, provided the minimum degree requirement is met.
  • A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected. The interviewed bidders possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected in seniority order according to the collective bargaining agreement.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

Previous work experience as a Design Engineer or Project Engineer on transportation/infrastructure and/or highway bridge projects funded by CDOT, IDOT, FHWA, or others.

Knowledge of IDOT Standard Specification for Road and Bridge Construction, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, and/or bridge design practices and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.

Registration as an Engineer Intern or Engineer-in-Training with a US State licensing board.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
