  • After Six Months of Successful Employment: $67,558.40
  • After One Year of Successful Employment: $68,972.80
  • Maximum salary is achieved after four successful years of employment.

The Library Circulation & Tech Services Supervisor (Central Records Supervisor) provides site-level, day-to-day oversight of the Circulation Department at the Bennett Civic Center Library. This position ensures the smooth execution of daily workflows, supervises and supports paraprofessional staff, and upholds high-quality public service standards. While focused on operational responsibilities, this employee is also expected to collaborate with the Branch Librarian and provide input on system-level planning, technology upgrades, policy development, and workflow improvements. This role supports broader library initiatives through coordination with other departments and staff and serves as a key conduit between frontline operations and library administration.

Evening and weekend hours are required.

Illustrative Examples of Work

  • Oversee and coordinate all functions of the Circulation Department, including check-in/check-out, patron accounts, shelving workflows, and fine/fee resolution
  • Create and maintain staff schedules for circulation desk and materials handling coverage
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate Clerks, Aides, Pages, and other assigned support staff
  • Provide direct public service at the Circulation Desk, resolve patron issues, and interpret and enforce library policies
  • Maintain accuracy of cash-handling procedures, including reconciliation, documentation, and reporting
  • Submit budget needs for circulation supplies, equipment, and staffing to the Branch Librarian for inclusion in department planning
  • Participate in the hiring process under the direction of the Branch Librarian, including interviewing, onboarding, and training
  • Serve as Person-in-Charge (PIC) during assigned shifts and assist in opening and closing the building
  • Participate in and lead department meetings; assist in development and refinement of procedures
  • Monitor and report usage and operational statistics; contribute to monthly reports
  • Coordinate with the Head of Technology on system-wide initiatives such as staff training for RFID equipment, implementation of upgrades, and equipment troubleshooting
  • Represent the Library in The Library Network (TLN) Circulation User Group meetings, and serve as alternate representative for SASUG meetings when the Branch Librarian or Library Director is unavailable
  • Provide input to the Branch Librarian on technology, policies, strategic initiatives, and cross-departmental planning to support the continuous improvement of library services
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Branch Librarian

By the closing date of this announcement, an applicant must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien with the right to work in the United States; and
  • Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and
  • Have a minimum of three years' experience in a public library or high-volume customer service environment; and
  • Have at least one year of supervisory or team lead experience.

NOTE: If the number of qualified candidates exceeds 15, an evaluation will be made and the 15 candidates with the most relevant combination of education and experience will be invited to Interview. Applicants must pass the Interview in order to be placed on the eligible list.

  • Proficient in integrated library systems (e.g., Polaris, TLC CARL) and standard office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)

Skill in:

Ability to:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to public service and fostering a positive, collaborative work environment
  • Respond to building and service needs during assigned open/close shifts
  • Lift up to 30 pounds and push loaded carts
  • To work evening and weekend hours
