A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Core Builder Welder, you'll support generator production by performing precision welding and core assembly tasks. You'll start each day with a safety briefing and collaborate with the team to meet daily goals. Key responsibilities include reading welding blueprints, operating Pulse MIG and burning equipment, and fabricating components. You'll ensure quality through electronic documentation and reporting, while also guiding and training others.
This role requires attention to detail, collaboration, and a strong dedication to safety and efficiency.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Must be highly proficient in reading and interpreting welding drawings and blueprints.
- Performing various welding tasks including Pulse MIG (GMAW), air-arc, and manual burning; weld generator core to frame/bedplate and rail car.
- Assembling generator cores using appropriate tools, torque/tension bolts per specifications, and fabricate part pieces as needed.
- Maintaining quality by completing electronic instruction sheets, reporting material issues, and communicating missing components to supervisors.
- Supporting team operations by training others, providing mentorship to contractors, and ensuring smooth shift transitions with accurate handoffs.
What You Bring
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of industrial-mechanical experience is required with electrical generator or motor mechanic experience preferred.
- Ability to acquire fork truck and crane license. Prefer to have previous experience.
- Ability to use basic shop math, basic Windows and digital literacy, precision measuring equipment.
- Must pass welding exam and Career Readiness exam with Silver Status.
