CAD Designer Specialist II

  • Relativity Space
  • Cape Canaveral, Florida
  • Full Time

About the Team:

The Launch team operates at the intersection of every major aspect of Terran R, from stages and payloads to ground systems, launch, landing, and refurbishment. The Cape is the only place where you see it all come together, offering a level of exposure and responsibility unmatched elsewhere in the program. This is where first flights happen, where history is built on top of history, and where the scale of what's underway is unlike anything in modern aerospace. The mission stays the same, but the work evolves with every milestone: from first launch to reuse, high-cadence operations, and beyond. If you're looking to define what's next in space launch and write a new playbook, not just repeat what's already been done, this is where it happens.

About the Role:

  • Develop the physical layout of assigned systems within our launch and test infrastructure using 3D design tools (NX).
  • Coordinate the design and integration of fluids, mechanical, electrical, and civil systems for operations.
  • Translate P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and functional requirements into facility-integrated designs.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts across independently owned systems.
  • Generate and maintain drawing packages and metadata to support procurement, fabrication, and construction.
  • Participate in model reviews, field walks, and iterative feedback loops during construction and commissioning.

About You:

  • Professional experience designing process piping systems in accordance with ASME B31.3, ASME B&PV Code Section VIII, AFSPCMAN 91-710, or similar standards.
  • 3+ years of professional experience designing within Siemens NX managed by Teamcenter PLM
  • Demonstrated proficiency with NX mechanical routing and drafting applications.
  • Working knowledge of P&IDs and physical system layout principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and manage scope of work independently with attention to detail.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Familiarity with field coordination or facility commissioning.
  • Experience designing fluids systems, infrastructure, or mechanical ground support equipment.
  • Exposure to construction packages, redlines, and build sequencing.

Successful candidates must clear a background check administered by the US government to obtain clearance for on-site work at our government partner location in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
