Overview:

KE&G Construction is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our Transportation Division. This role will focus on highways, roadways, bridges, and underground utilities projects. Requirements:

  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to learn and advance as an employee-owner

  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent (minimum 3 years of construction experience)

  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Office products

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors

  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs

  • Safety-sensitive position: must pass pre-employment and subsequent random drug screenings

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Exceptional organizational skills and a take-charge attitude

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities:

  • Implement Company and Project Safety Plans

  • Assist field teams with safety and technical needs

  • Collaborate with the project team to develop Hazard Risk Analysis Matrices

  • Schedule and support training and onboarding

  • Track production and prepare reports

  • Assist with material procurement and field verification of production quantities

  • Coordinate communication between project and safety teams

  • Monitor and track quality control issues for construction materials

  • Verify material deliveries for compliance with project plans and specifications

  • Prepare and track project submittals

  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors and material deliveries

  • Assist Project Managers with pay applications, job forecasting, change orders, etc.

  • Obtain all necessary permitting and perform utility locates prior to project start

  • Review bids, plans, and specifications for construction projects

Preferred Experience:

  • Heavy Civil and/or Industrial Construction

  • Ability to read and interpret project documents, plans, specifications, and special provisions

  • Experience with Heavy Job system is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate with verbally others on site, in person and over the telephone, ability to read printed materials, signs and directions, stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions, ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner.
  • Will be required to work on project sites and operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, equipment and other tools within local, state and federal safety guidelines.
  • This position operates in a professional field environment. The position requires working outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  • While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other air-borne pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.
