H2C seeks an Engineer to join the Direct Feed Low Activity Waste (DFLAW) Engineering team.
This will support several key projects that directly support the Department of Energy's key objective to provide direct feed of Hanford Tank Waste to the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP). These projects provide opportunities to support Conceptual Design through full Plant Operations dependent on individual experience and career goals. Providing support to all of these Projects, DFLAW Engineering provides great diversity and career development for all levels of Engineering experience.
Advanced Modular Pretreatment System (AMPS). Directly supporting a waste treatment Project that will be designed, fabricated, constructed, installed and commissioned in the 200 East Area of the Hanford Tank Farms adjacent to the current operating TSCR unit. This role presents the opportunity to be part of the beginning of the Project all the way through to Operations.
West Area Risk Mitigation Project (WARM). Focused on the Hanford 200 West Area this Project supports the Conceptual Design phase of a third TSCR system that will be developed specifically for the SY Tank Farm. As with AMPS, this is an opportunity to be part of the Project from the Conceptual Design phase being involved with both the design / procurement of the TSCR system in addition to all the required infrastructure upgrades.
The Electrical Engineer will serve as a project engineer supporting a variety of Tank Farm projects with a focus on electrical and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) design. The engineer will serve as part of a team of engineers on larger projects that encompass multiple engineering disciplines. Typical tasks include reviewing and revising electrical drawings, creating, editing and modifying Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Drawing Change Notices (DCNs) and Modification Travelers. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting errors and issues in the field and determining a recommended path forward. The engineer will work with the Project Manager as well as internal and external design firms. The engineer will be involved in the start-up, testing and commissioning of new systems and technology.
Act as a fully competent engineer in the functional and technical area of assignments. Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field of engineering including a general knowledge of related disciplines.
Comply with policies and procedures.
Ensure company principles are incorporated into organization's activities and outputs.
Accountable for safety based on the principles of no injuries to anyone and continuous improvement.
Develop and sustain productive customer relationships.
Support preparation of Statements of Work, design products, procurements, specifications, etc.
Prepare and approve design media.
Prepare and approve Engineering documents, evaluations, and calculations.
Perform routine administrative activities/duties on time (routine training, safety meetings, Time Information System (TIS), continuing training, staff meetings)
Shall obtain and maintain an Engineering Technical Staff Qualification Card.
Required Qualifications
Grade 19:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline; and
Nine (9) years of related experience
Grade 20:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline; and
Ten (10) years of related experience
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Grade 21:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline; and
Twelve (12) years of related experience
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.
Desired Qualifications
Familiar with TOC procedures and SmartPlant (SPF)
Previous experience as a Project Engineer

Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $117,225
Hiring Range Maximum: $179,113
