We are seeking a reliable and experienced Underground Utilities Foreman to lead and oversee field crews in the installation of underground water, sewer, and storm drain systems. This role requires a hands-on leader who can ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to specification while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Crew Management
- Supervise, train, and coordinate daily activities of crew members on underground utility projects.
- Assign tasks based on project needs, crew strengths, and timelines.
- Ensure all crew members understand safety requirements, project goals, and daily objectives.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company and OSHA safety policies.
Project Coordination
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to ensure correct installation.
- Coordinate work with equipment operators, inspectors, subcontractors, and project managers.
- Monitor progress, adjust schedules, and solve on-site problems as needed.
- Maintain detailed daily logs of work performed, materials used, and labor hours.
Technical Work Oversight
- Oversee trenching, shoring, and pipe installation for sewer, storm, and water pipelines (PVC, ductile iron, concrete, etc.).
- Verify pipe grade, alignment, and connections using lasers, levels, and transits.
- Ensure backfill, compaction, and testing meet required standards.
- Inspect completed work for compliance with plans, specifications, and local regulations.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Enforce adherence to all applicable codes, permits, and environmental regulations.
- Inspect and approve work at each stage before progressing to the next phase.
- Troubleshoot and resolve construction or installation issues promptly.
Equipment & Site Management
- Ensure tools, machinery, and vehicles are maintained in safe and working condition.
- Oversee job site cleanup and restoration (pavement, landscaping, etc.) after completion.
- Minimum 2 years of underground utility installation experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or foreman role.
- Strong knowledge of water, sewer, and storm drain installation processes.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Skilled in using construction equipment, tools, and pipe installation technology.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required.
