Press Brake Operator Job Description As a Press Brake Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating fabricating machines such as shears, brake presses, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses to cut, bend, and form sheet metal. You will observe machine operations to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions, report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Fabrication Supervisor, and perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the maintenance charts. Maintaining a clean and orderly work area and equipment while following safety protocols is also crucial. Responsibilities Set up and operate fabricating machines such as shears, brake presses, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses. Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions. Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Fabrication Supervisor. Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Essential Skills Experience with brake press setup and operation. Familiarity with Amada press and fabrication processes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Welding experience is a plus. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, Illinois. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
