Being a Building Inspector in Alvarado isn't just about enforcing codes it's about meeting people from all walks of life, seeing amazing projects take shape, and being part of the team that's literally building the future of our city. You'll get out from behind the desk, put boots on the ground, and work with contractors, residents, and city staff to make sure every structure is safe and sound. Plus, you'll have a front-row seat to watch our city transform and know you had a hand in it. What You'll Do Inspect residential and commercial buildings to ensure compliance with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes, as well as city ordinances. Enforce all provisions of the building codes, making sure construction methods and materials meet safety and quality standards. Work with permit applicants to adjust plans so they meet zoning and construction codes. Investigate complaints related to adopted codes and ordinances. Review and inspect new and remodeled city facilities. Prepare inspection and other related reports. Provide excellent customer service to residents, contractors, and other city staff. What We're Looking For Experience with building inspections, code enforcement, and construction best practices. Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning, and safety regulations. Great communication skills able to explain complex codes in a clear, friendly way. Ability to stay professional and positive, even when delivering tough news. A love for problem-solving and helping people find compliant solutions. Required Education, Training, and Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required, Three (3) or more years of experience in general building, contracting, municipal inspections of residential and commercial buildings/structures, i.e. / building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc. or any equivalent combination of education and experience. A plumbing inspector's license issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. Valid Texas Driver License Desired Training and Experience: Any International Code Council (ICC) certification is highly desired. Associates Degree in related field is preferred Additional training or experience in related field. Qualifications:

Required Education, Training, and Experience:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. required,

Three (3) or more years of experience in general building, contracting, municipal inspections of residential and commercial buildings/structures, i.e. / building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc. or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

A plumbing inspector s license issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners.
