Structural Engineer opportunity with a leading engineering firm who is looking for someone with experience in the pulp and paper or a similar industry. This position will support structural engineering needs for capital projects, maintenance upgrades, and expansions. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in the design and analysis of machine track foundations. The position can be based in any one of the following locations and is a hybrid role - Cincinnati, Raleigh, Greenville, Savannah, Kansas City, Birmingham, Mobile, Salt Lake City, or Appleton, WI.

responsibilities:
  • Design and analyze machine track foundations, equipment bases, and supporting structural systems for pulp and paper machinery

  • Perform structural assessments and retrofitting plans for aging or modified machine foundations

  • Review vendor drawings and coordinate with equipment suppliers to ensure proper alignment and loading

  • Develop technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings for mill infrastructure projects

  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • Structural engineering experience in heavy industrial settings, machine foundation or machine track design in pulp and paper or a similar industry.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of structural systems, industrial building codes, and the unique challenges of supporting heavy rotating equipment and paper machines.

  • Understanding of vibration, load transfer, settlement, and dynamic forces related to high-speed rotating equipment.

  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD, and Revit.
